Only the highest quality materials are used in our work. To obtain a perfect finish, care is taken during each stage of the process: preparation, priming, filling, undercoating and glossing. The overall effect of applying paint by brush to a surface leaves no trace of brush marks or any other imperfection.

T.C. Robbins
Orient Express Trains & Cruises

"From 1982 to 2012 I held the position of Engineering Administration Manager at Venice Simplon Orient Express Ltd, and in that capacity it was my duty to select and engage the various craftsmen required in connection with the restoration and ongoing conservation of the Pullman Cars. The initial painting and sign-writing of these vehicles had been undertaken by the well-known specialist Bob Timmins, who also was responsible for the regular programme of repainting which was necessary to keep the Pullmans in immaculate condition. In 1986 Bob was joined, as an apprentice, by his son Ralph, and since then I have observed how Ralph has learnt all the skills allied to his craft and has matured into a master craftsman in his own right. In 2002, on the retirement of his father, Ralph took on sole responsibility for the painting of the VSOE Pullmans, a role which he retains to the present day. Ralph is fully conversant with all the processes required in traditional coach painting, lining and lettering and is also skilled in more modern spray-painting techniques which he deploys when appropriate. Ralph's work is invariably to exhibition standard."
